Privacy Policy

OneTask ("the app", "we", "us") is a task-management app for Android. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it plain. If anything is unclear, email contact@onetask.dev.
The short version: If you don't sign in, everything you create stays on your device and we collect nothing. If you sign in with Google, your tasks are backed up to your private cloud space so they sync across your devices — and you can delete all of it whenever you like.
Data we collect
If you use OneTask without signing in: your tasks, reminders, focus history, streaks, and profile settings are stored only on your device. None of it is sent to us or anyone else.
If you sign in with Google (optional): we receive and store
- Account information — your name, email address, and Google account identifier, provided by Google Sign-In. This identifies your account and your private data.
- Your task content — the tasks you create and their details (title, notes, category, priority, positions, timestamps, reminder times, and focus time). These sync to the cloud so they appear on your other signed-in devices.
The display name and email you optionally type into your in-app profile are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded.
How your data is used
- To authenticate you and back up your tasks.
- To sync your tasks across the devices where you're signed in.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Where it's stored & who can see it
Sign-in and sync are powered by Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), acting as our data processor on Google's infrastructure. Your tasks are stored in a space keyed to your account, and security rules restrict read and write access so that only you, signed in as yourself, can access them. Data is encrypted in transit.
Data retention
Your synced data is kept until you delete it. Signing out stops syncing and leaves your data in place; deleting your account (below) removes it.
Deleting your account & data
You can permanently delete your account and all synced data at any time:
- In the app: open Profile → Sync & backup and tap Delete account. This removes your tasks from the cloud and deletes your account.
- By email: write to contact@onetask.dev from your account's email address and we'll delete your data for you.
See the account deletion page for details.
Permissions
OneTask asks only for permissions that power on-device features — notifications, exact alarms for time reminders, and the ability to run a foreground timer. These operate on your device and are not used to collect data about you.
Children
OneTask is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
